Niseko Hanazono Snow Report 27th march 2009

Heavy snow started to fall late yesterday and we had over 20cms overnight with plenty more up top. Back country will be amazing with light waste deep powder areas to find. Winds have eased off from last nights storm and should be around 20km/hr and reaching 30km up top. Most lifts should be spinning with the Terrain Park open by mid morning.

Niseko Hanazono Snow Report 26th march 2009

Yesterday was amazing. Beautiful sunny weather and fresh dry powder to ski on. It was waste deep in areas off piste with the groomed runs like it were mid winter. A partially cloudy day ahead with a possibility of late snow showers. Fantastic conditions and wind speeds around 15km/hr should see most lifts spinning and the Stomping Ground Terrain Park open by mid morning. Visibility is variable with possible snow today. Wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 15 up top with a maximum temperature of 1 degree at the base.

The Conditions out there today are epic, the sun is out with over a foot of fresh powder on the mountain. The Cloud will be coming over this arfternoon with snow to start falling tonight.

Niseko Snow Report 24th march 2009

Moderate snow fell yesterday with about 15cms here at the base. Its still snowing and should continue into tonight. Winds reaching up to 40km/hr may see some top lifts closed. Visibility is variable and wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 23 up top with a maximum temperature of minus 5 degrees at the base. The forecast suggests below zero temperatures to hang around for the week with on and off snowfalls right through to Sunday.

Recent shower activity has given way to snowy conditions at around 6:30 this morning and should continue through the day. This latest storm cycle and gusting winds may see some lifts closed up top today.Visibility is variable and wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 22 up top with a maximum temperature of minus 2 degrees at the base.

The fog has lifted today making for good visibility.  A partly sunny morning is expected. So get out and enjoy some sensational groomed spring runs or hit up the Stomping Ground Terrain Park. Winds around 20km/hr should see most lifts spinning. Access to all runs is available and all are open. Wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 21 up top by this afternoon with a maximum temperature of 0 degrees at the base.

Mild temperatures felt today should hopefully drop by tonight which should see some snow about the resorts. Much like yesterday firm terrain will soften as the day continues. Conditions today should see most lifts spinning and the terrain Park open by mid morning. Wind speeds are around 20km/hr and reaching 35 at times. Wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 4 up top with a maximum temperature of 5 degrees at the base. Visibility is variable.

Yesterday saw the sun come out in the afternoon for great visibility.  Today should be a mostly cloudy day ahead with southerly winds around 30km/hr and getting stronger up top. Temperatures cooled last night firming the snow pack and  all runs are open with plenty of snow around the mountain.

Winds in Niseko are around 20 to 30km/hr and we should see most lifts spinning. Some lifts are closed in March however access to the runs are still available through other lifts. Wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 11 up top with a maximum temperature of 1 degree at the base. Visibility is variable. Access to back country has not been open. * Riders will be split into 2 heats which will each run for 60 minutes
* Heat #1 Skiers & Female SB
* Heat #2 male Snowboard
* Top 6 Open Female SB & Top 4 Female Grommet SB + Top 6 Open Skiers & Top 4 Grommet Skiers
will advance to the Finals from Heat #1
* Top 10 Male Snowboarders & Top 4 Male SB Grommet’s will advance to the Finals from Heat #2
* Finals will consist of 2 judged runs with their best scored run only being taken for final placing
* Riders will be cleared to drop by the starter only.
* Lowest Bib number will drop first at start of heat. In the finals, start order for the 2nd run will be reversed.

First tracks will be amazing this morning. The last 24hrs has seen wintry conditions return once again.  The resorts have been blanketed in powder snow overnight. Visibility will be variable with snow continuing in the morning and a  mostly cloudy day ahead.

Scattered snow showers started to fall at around 11am yesterday becoming heavier overnight. Snow has covered the resort and there was around 15cms to wake up to here at the base with more falling up top. Temperatures were below zero overnight. Moderate westerly wind conditions may see some top lifts closed. Wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 23 up top with a maximum temperature of -4 degrees at the base.

Yesterday was a partly cloudy day and we had some snow about the peak overnight. Generally light winds this morning should see most lifts spinning with winds are likely to increase this afternoon. Freezing level is at 400 metres and should drop to 0 by this afternoon. Wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 16 up top with a maximum temperature of 1 degree at the base.

Strong winds over the weekend have eased off and it should be a great day of skiing and boarding. The terrain is compact on groomed runs and wind swept in some areas. The Terrain Park is in top condition with competitors practising for Saturday's Hanazono Slope Style no 4. presented by Quiksilver. All runs and lifts are expected to be up and running. Wind chill should see temperatures down to around minus 11 up top with a maximum temperature of 2 degrees at the base. Visibility is variable.

Niseko Hanazono Snow Report 07.03.09

The first week of spring has seen all types of conditions. Powder snow to start, sun with shower periods yesterday giving way to cooler temperatures and snow this morning. Strong westerly wind conditions across all resorts may see some lifts close today however reopening as wind speeds ease off through the week. Visibility is variable, sun tomorrow with low cloud and snow to follow. Going back country, have required safety gear and understand the inherent dangers. Yesterday saw fresh tracks all over and some hip deep powder off piste. Another beautiful day and we may see some light snow later. Westerly winds should be generally light at around 15km/hr which should see most lifts spinning and the Stomping Ground Terrain Park open by mid morning. There was no sign of spring yesterday except some sensational sunshine in the afternoon. It was a chilli night with over 10cms settling at the base. The terrain is powdery overall and visibility is variable with low cloud at times. Light west south westerly wind conditions around 15km/hr should see most lifts operational with the Stomping Ground Terrain Park open by mid morning. Wind chill will bring temperatures down to around -18 with a maximum temperature of -2 degrees.

A bluebird day yesterday for the first day of spring with fresh snow falling the past 2 evenings.  We had around 10cms here at the base overnight and snow is still falling.  The terrain is around a foot in depth off piste, powdery and compact on groomed runs.
